
Matt Van Epps
Matt Van Epps was appointed Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of General Services (DGS) by Governor Bill Lee, effective October 1, 2024. He has held multiple roles within the Governor Lee administration, including deputy chief operating officer in the Governor’s Office and strategic planner with the COVID-19 Unified Command Group, assistant director of procurement and contracts with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and assistant commissioner with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services.
Matt is a West Point graduate and veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served ten years as an active-duty Army helicopter pilot with multiple combat deployments. He earned his Master of Public Administration (MPA) from UNC at Chapel Hill. He lives in Nashville with his wife and daughter.
